Twilio setup, Google Voice porting, and message logs
Twilio credentials not yet configured
Follow the Google Voice porting guide below, then add your Twilio credentials in Settings → Secrets. Once configured, the system will automatically send SMS alerts for every job assignment, completion, and impound notice.

Unlock Your Google Voice Number
- Go to voice.google.com and sign in
- Click the gear icon (Settings) in the top right
- Select 'Legacy Google Voice' if prompted
- Go to Settings → Phones tab
- Click 'Transfer' or 'Port out' next to your number
- Google will provide a port-out PIN — save this, you'll need it
Google Voice numbers can be ported to Twilio. The process takes 2–10 business days.
Create Your Twilio Account
- Go to twilio.com and click 'Sign up for free'
- Verify your email address and phone number
- Complete the onboarding (select 'Phone Numbers' as your use case)
- From the Console Dashboard, copy your Account SID and Auth Token
- Add funds to your account (minimum $20 recommended for porting)
Keep your Account SID and Auth Token secure — never share them publicly.
Submit Port Request in Twilio
- In Twilio Console, go to Phone Numbers → Manage → Port & Host
- Click 'Start a port-in request'
- Enter your Google Voice number (with area code, e.g. +17605551234)
- When asked for the account number: use your Google account email address
- When asked for the PIN: use the port-out PIN from Step 1
- Select 'Local' as the number type
- Submit the request and note the port order ID
The account number for Google Voice is your Gmail address. The PIN is the one Google provided.
Wait for Port Completion
- Twilio will email you updates on the port status
- You can check status at Console → Phone Numbers → Port & Host
- During porting, your Google Voice number still works normally
- On the port date, calls/texts will automatically route through Twilio
- Set up your Twilio phone number in this dashboard (Settings → Secrets)
Do NOT cancel your Google Voice account until porting is confirmed complete.
Configure in Patriot Dispatch
- Once porting is complete, your number appears in Twilio Console
- Copy your Account SID from the Twilio Console dashboard
- Copy your Auth Token (click the eye icon to reveal it)
- Your Twilio phone number is your ported Google Voice number
- Enter all three values in the Secrets section below
- SMS notifications will activate immediately
After entering credentials, all job assignments and completions will automatically send SMS alerts.

Once you have all five items, go to Settings → Secrets in the Management UI and add TWILIO_ACCOUNT_SID, TWILIO_AUTH_TOKEN, and TWILIO_PHONE_NUMBER. SMS will activate immediately.
